As we sat at the corner of the beach, having just finished explaining me his next five year goals- I could how his eyes lit up with excitement and in the next moment dropped down with insecurity. He told me how he wanted to quit his current job and start his own business. He never wanted to retire and work till his last breath. What he wished for was not unattainable, but all he had to do was believe in himself.
I looked him in the eye and asked: You know what it takes to get there. Are you ready to do whatever it takes?
I told him to close his eyes and think of those steps you think are important towards achieving your goal.
For all of us reading this- Introspect!
STAY FOCUSED
Now that you have a plan, stick to it. Some days you will not be swayed by your goal. When things don’t work in your favor, you will feel disappointed and let down. Hey, it’s okay! Remember; just be on the track you have chosen for yourself. Like horses have blinds, create that for yourself. Feel fused and determined every time you think about your goal.
THINK OUT OF THE BOX
If you need to propel on your own, constantly question yourself- what needs to be done to get there? Find ways to reach there in a way nobody could have thought of. Think of ideas which define your chosen career path. Subscribe for various YouTube channels and blogs related to your career choice. This will help you to gain more knowledge and help you curate creative ideas.
TAKE THAT EXTRA MILE
Once you have decided what you want to do, step out of your comfort zone and take steps you have never taken. You might come cross paths with failure initially, but always believe in yourself and your goal. Step up your game and contact people you need to. Be willing to dream and act bigger. Start broadening your horizon. Brainstorm your game plan.
FOLLOW UP THE ROAD
Follow up with the people you have contacted. Reach out to every source possible. Think of better ways to reach out to those people. Follow their LinkedIn profiles and Instagram pages. Understand their experiences. People will always forget you; they are busy in their lives. It is your job to keep a follow up for your work.
Every day when you wake up, you will doubt yourself. You will doubt your chosen path. But remember, you the leader and you are born to obey rule. Break the chains and do what it takes!
